Top Texas Aussies

Today I was at the feed store and picked up some dried pigs ears. For those who don't know, they are dried out like a raw hide bone. I brought them home and into the house. It didn't take the whole gang of dogs long to figure out that Mom had some kind of treat that the just needed to have. Cash (our black lab) tracked the bag all the way into the house. I bought the pigs ears for the puppies to chew on. Lately they think my fingers and hands are chew toys. At this stage in their short lives they have the most sharp teeth! I needed a distraction for them.

I went out to the barn this morning to check on the puppies. I love how they greet me with their happy barks and their sweet chubby bodies wiggilng all about. Nothing says I love you better then that! The best part comes when I pick them each up and they lick my face and snuggle in close. Content to be held by someone they know loves them! Then, time for breakfast! They can inhale their food as fast as my 18 and 14 year old sons can! After that Momma comes back in and they have their after breakfast milk. Must be good because they all end up with milk all over their faces!

My dog is finally coming this year. She was born a week in a half ago. I will be able to take my puppy home on Christmas Eve. I am going to name her Haley. I think Haley is going to be a good name. I think Haley will be a great Christmas present. I will not be getting my puppy from Kaylee but I will be getting her from Kaylee`s mom which is fine with me. Whenever I get my puppy she will get to go whereever I go. We are going to have so much fun with Haley. I will buy her toys and a bed to sleep in. I can`t wait for Haley to come home and be my own to keep.

I bought a bag of dog treats yesterday. It seems to me that the dogs have some sixth sense about them. I no sooner open the door of my car and they are all over me. Now I know they love me and are always glad when I get back from an errand, but this is crazy glad. I carried the bag to the front porch with my happy Australian Shepherds and 1 big "ol" Lab cavorting around my feet. One of these days when I do this they are going to knock me over in their enthusiasm. How will I ever explain to Wes why I broke an arm?

We will soon hear the patter of little aussie feet around the farm. Topaz our blue merle female is expecting a litter of puppies soon. It's been some time since we had pups so it will be nice to have them around. I can't wait to see what colors we end up with and what sexes there will be. It's always a color surprise when you breed a merle. Hmm wonder if we will get blue merles or red merles red tris or black tris? 

Its the time of year when love is in the air. It's Valentines week!! I just want to remind every one that while chocolate is great for wives (theres a hint fellas) it is NOT good for dogs. So keep all those sweet goodies up and out of the way of your pets. Get them a bone for Valentines day.

Today Wes is cleaning out his office. I have been laughing at the war between he and Topaz. See Topaz doesn’t like my spouse much. Once upon a time he threw a bucket not at her but in her general vicinity and she has never let him forget that she did not appreciate it.  FYI it was not her he was even scolding.
